Achieving relevant information by Eavesdropping others' conversations is a possible element of the gameplay, which is commonly related to Stealth or low profile action. Eavesdropping can be explored in the design of the gameplay if interesting information is made to be exchanged between characters by means of Dialogue.

Crysis 2: The "Nanosuit 2" features eavesdropping abilities.
Thief II: The Metal Age: The 5th mission implies eavesdropping a conversation.
Assassin's Creed: Altair Eavesdropping two NPC at distance. This is a form of investigation, which follows a specific procedure.
Crysis: The binoculars also include a shotgun-like microphone, which allows having a better perception of the sound of "not so close" NPC.
